We all need a little something in our lives to ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚zhuzh it up ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚, and glimmers might be it.
Romatizing life can get tricky from time to time, especially when we’re constantly bombarded by how others do such things or by whatever aesthetic/trend might be going on at the moment. Cottagecore, anyone?
And, don’t get me wrong, maybe a thing or two might add to how you enjoy your days and overall your day-to-day, but, and maybe this is just me, there is a point where instead of romanticizing your day, the effort to recreate whatever you see on social media or within friends drains you more than bringing joy.
So… how do you find your glimmers and what are they?
Well, glimmers is a term that I know from therapist Deb Dana’s work on the autonomic nervous system and polyvagal theory. And it’s pretty much a collection of small moments that can help us feel safe, connected, calm, or present.
Is it hard to find or come up with a glimmer? No, it doesn’t have to be this big moment of overwhelming happiness. It might be the warmth of your coffee cup, sunlight on your face while you journal, taking care of your plants, a familiar song, or honestly, anything that makes you feel grounded and absorbed in joy.
This is why I’ve been leaning more into this because it stays true to you and your life without having to rely on a trend happening online. It is in the moments of solitude or with company that you get to engage in moments of joys, moments that even if they last five, ten minutes, can change how your day goes.
As for my glimmers…
Well, I realized that I didn’t have to come up with a new set of activities. Instead, I became more conscious of how I felt doing certain things and if time disappeared. So here are some moments of joy.

Simple, yet fulfilling.
